Structured doctoral programme “Sustainable Agricultural Development in Central Asia”
- An innovative structured doctoral programme,
- based at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME), Uzbekistan,
- established and maintained jointly with German & international partners,
- financially supported by the Volkswagen Foundation in Germany & the Government of Uzbekistan.
The Programme intends to act as a model for higher standards of doctoral education, international networking and academic output for other disciplines and universities throughout Central Asia.
Structured education to enable independent research
- Provision of a modularised, structured training programme for doctoral researchers
- Inclusion of advanced early career researchers into teaching
- Teach the teachers trainings
- Outreach to existing doctoral education programmes in Uzbekistan
10 PhD positions in research areas:
- farm restructuring & labour relations
- agricultural innovation & technology
- agricultural policy
- environmental change & agriculture
- water governance
